| This charming little colonial town is centered around a Franciscan convent that was built over a Mayan temple. It is in this convent where Our Lady of Izamal, Queen and Patron Saint of Yucatan is housed. Visiting this church and seeing Our Lady is a wonderful day trip. This is perhaps the oldest town in the Yucatan. Ride around town in one of the horse drawn carriages. All of the buildings are painted yellow in the tradition of colonial Mexico. |
