General Information

Air
Cancun is a large International airport.  The airport is located a quick 20-minute drive from Puerto Morelos along Highway 307, a modern 4 lane highway that runs from Cancun, past Puerto Morelos and all the way down the coast to Tulum.

Taxis
Taxis are plentiful and usually inexpensive in the Cancun area. The ride from the airport to Puerto Morelos is one exception, however. The Taxi Union has set the price at $60 for the ride to PM.  There is no negotiating for price.  Puerto Morelos taxis are inexpensive, only $2 - $3 dollars per ride.

Buses
There is a great bus system in this area.  The ADO line has very nice, comfortable buses that go up and down Highway 307 for about $2 to Cancun.  You take a taxi from town up to the highway (it's a mile and a half and costs about $2.) When you get to the highway you buy your bus ticket at the ADO office and they help you get on the right bus; an excellent way to get to Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum.  There is also a small local bus that goes from our town square over to the town on the other side of the highway called The Colonia where all the locals live.

Rental Cars
Most major U.S. rental car companies have locations at the airport. Look for the best deals online. Be sure to book your reservations from the U.S. before you arrive. It is less expensive that way. There are two car rental places in Puerto Morelos. In the high season a reliable, small 4 door car with a manual transmission and air conditioning costs about $40 USD a day.

Weather
During the high season, from December through March, the Mayan Riviera has temperatures that average around 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 60 to 70 at night. Although the climate can be humid, the cool ocean breezes keep you comfortable. It is hotter and more humid from April through July with temperatures staying in the 90’s most of the time. The rainy season starts in August; the hurricane season is in September and October. Our apartments are fully air-conditioned and there are ceiling fans in every room which are usually sufficient to keep you cool.
